Everyone knows that I am the hugest stan of all things Marc Jacobs and all things Louis Vuitton. But everyone who knows me also knows that I am pretty good at calling out something bad when it really is bad and I generally have a pretty unbiased eye for fashion. I think we can all agree that when it comes to Louis Vuitton RTW, Marc puts out a much stronger collection for FW than SS. So when I woke up at the break of dawn Eastern time this morning to catch the LV livestream, I was very pleasantly surprised.

Louis Vuitton's SS'12 RTW collection was beautiful. Normally there is very little coherency between seasons for LV RTW, but it was easy to see the same girl wearing the LV RTW FW'11 collection and this one. Marc is really making a statement this time around with who the Louis Vuitton girl really is; the quiet, sophisticated parisienne who commands your attention without a voice. She is understated, classy and is completely happy to carry on with or without you. Marc Jacobs, bravo for doing this girl justice with an incredibly strong collection!

So the first picture of Louis Vuitton's "Core Values" campaign has surfaced on WWD today. I was so in love with the concept of this campaign when I first heard about it, and if this first look is any indication of what the rest of the campaign will look like, I feel pretty assured that I won't be disappointed. The subtle tones of Annie Leibovitz' work and having the models of the campaign carry Louis Vuitton pieces that they already own and love is a match made in heaven.

The campaign has slated aims to bring attention back to Louis Vuitton's strong craftsmanship and reinstating themselves as a staple of travel luxury goods. As a lover of all things Louis Vuitton, I am more than happy to support promoting the brand for its quality rather than its luxury brand image. Louis Vuitton is one of those labels that attracts a lot of unwanted criticisms as gaudy and over-the-top due to their most prominent pattern being the classic monogram. Their bags and accessories proudly display the Louis Vuitton symbol, making the brand an easy target for such critics.

What many critics fail to consider, however, is that if you look beyond the patterns and price tag, Louis Vuitton is known for creating quality leather goods and merchandise that outlast the ages. Their products will endure from vacation to vacation, year after year and withstand the wear and tear of even the most exotic locations. Louis Vuitton's new campaign looks to start bringing back the values that the company started with over 150 years ago when they first gained notoriety by introducing flat-bottomed trunks.

A shift from the glitz and exclusivity image that Louis Vuitton has been found to project to an image more focused on a history of quality production will surely be a welcome one.the name's Boots.http://www.blogger.com/profile/09527564190619715306noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5591986018602446155.post-66751266147528826012010-05-08T16:19:00.001-04:002010-05-08T16:20:03.846-04:00Remember Now by Karl Lagerfeld

I SEE YOU, ABBEY AND MAGDALENA, WORK.the name's Boots.http://www.blogger.com/profile/09527564190619715306noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5591986018602446155.post-28507116183691602952010-03-21T23:52:00.003-04:002010-03-22T00:00:57.113-04:00we won't destroy you, no we will not destory you

top by O'Neill, skirt from Forever XXI, vintage belt, tights from Urban Outfitters

It's been one of the most wild weekends of my life. It makes your heart sit up literally, makes your heart sit just a little bit higher up in your chest, somewhere between where it's supposed to be and your throat. And it's just... caught there, making it that little bit harder to just breathe. I can honestly say that's exactly how I felt through this whole movie. Ford is amazing in his artistry, every scene was just the perfect bit off-center, and every shot was cut exactly right, the screen filled with foreground and background the absolutely perfect amount.

Everything about it was completely breathtaking, heartbreaking at parts and just... beautiful. I don't know how to describe it beyond that.

I encourage every one to try and see it if they get the chance. I know it's not wide release, but I was lucky enough to have the small indie theater in my university town show it. This movie is definitely among my favourites of all time and I know it's a bit much to hope Colin Firth will win the Oscar but I really hope he does 'cause he absolutely deserves it.the name's Boots.http://www.blogger.com/profile/09527564190619715306noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5591986018602446155.post-31021737969180916072010-03-01T22:21:00.002-05:002010-03-01T22:31:01.531-05:00and I have learned that even landlocked lovers yearn

top from American Eagle, cardigan from H&M, shorts by SWS, tights from Urban Outfitters, vintage belt and boots, bag by Fendi

Finally an outfit post! It was wild. I swear my heart stopped in the last forty seconds when USA got their equalizer. I watched my favourite football team (I call soccer football, so sue me), Arsenal FC, play against Stoke this morning and the game put me through an emotional break down. Long story short, 'cause I don't want this to turn into a sports commentary blog or something, one of Arsenal's players suffered a seriously bad injury. His shin was just... looked bent the wrong way and it was scary. All the other players on both teams looked so shaken up and immediately called for the medical staff to come with the stretcher. I couldn't believe what a nightmare of a game I was watching.

Arsenal came through though, they won the game and came back from being 1-0 down in the beginning to winning 3-1 and showing a new found maturity. By the time the third goal was scored, I started crying. The tears were just pouring out of me and I can't really explain why.

On a happier note, my dad came back from the Bahamas and I bring you a few of his vacation pictures:

Atlantis, Paradise Island, The Bahamas

He spent a couple days there with his colleagues and an open bar, partying ridiculous hours. When did my dad get cooler than me? Okay so maybe it's not really a happier note considering while he was there for a couple of days I was suffering with the weather here. I forgot to grab pictures of the main course, but it was beautiful. My aunt took me here for lunch yesterday. I had the most amazing omelet and when she suggested desert to share, I definitely couldn't say no (even though I was incredibly full already). I definitely recommend this place, pricy though. My aunt always takes me somewhere nice, oh how I love coming home.

I went shopping at the Eaton's center after, and I found it incredibly... boring. I don't know if the street I live on while I'm in school has spoiled me in terms of boutique shopping, or if I'm just getting tired of Eaton's Center 'cause that's where I'm always at whenever I come home. Needless to say, my shopping trip was unfruitful. I didn't get anything except a shirt at Hollister which I had to force myself to buy because I needed to get rid of a giftcard. I'm not a big fan of Hollister or Abercrombie and Fitch anymore. It was kinda a high school phase for me and now I've grown out of it. A few things from there are still in my wardrobe though.

I have Olympic fever! My Canadian spirit is at it's highest ever and I'm in love with ice dance gold medalists Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. Why does Valentine's day always bring the drama? Not to mention preparing for the two midterms I just wrote and the death of McQueen. It's definitely been a stressing last few days. So here's my belated tribute to Valentine's day. I woke up on Sunday morning to my housemates making me a double layered heart shaped cake and sugar cookies. Of course they ate it too, but it was in my honour 'cause I'm the only one who actually likes Valentine's day. They're the best.

I'm going home for reading week on Friday, bought my ticket and everything. I'm just so excited to go home and see my family. I was so homesick this past weekend too 'cause it was Chinese New Year and I called home to let them know how much I missed and love them. It was wicked depressing. Bah, I'm just in one of those moods!!

New York Fashion Week as a whole so far isn't disappointing. But it's not impressive either. I have a lower standard for NYFW and it's meeting that standard right now... just not surpassing it. Tomorrow when I'm not so tired I'll compile a few of my favourite looks from my favourite shows so far.

playing on my iTunes: City Girl by Tegan and Sarathe name's Boots.http://www.blogger.com/profile/09527564190619715306noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5591986018602446155.post-42906759060904236762010-02-11T12:18:00.004-05:002010-02-17T23:42:31.690-05:00R.I.P. Kevin McHale is dressed exactly how I love men to dress. His hair is just that right level of mess and the tie + suspenders + psuedo-combat boots combination is perfect. I'm developing a major crush here, not to mention that Artie and Kurt are already my favourite characters.

vest from American Apparel, jeans by Bullhead, Chucks

I think I was a bit inspired to go out looking like the indie-wannabe that I am. Good thing too 'cause it gave the vest its second outing since Halloween. I bought it as part of my costume (I was the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland) and haven't wore it since. I'm trying to find more staple pieces that I could match with the vest from time to time.

Playing on my itunes: The Water by Feistthe name's Boots.http://www.blogger.com/profile/09527564190619715306noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5591986018602446155.post-3824599164306128362010-02-07T12:40:00.005-05:002010-02-17T23:44:18.298-05:00vogt B, fifty gallons.

blouse from Armani Exchange, jeans by Bullhead, tank from Forever XXI, vintage belt, silk scarf from China

My housemate took these pictures and I realize I'm really awkward. They're like selfies, but not. I guess I'll get used to them eventually.

I went to see my friend in the Vogt series yesterday. The Vogt series is a play, made up of four smaller plays each series, that is completely student run. I missed seeing him in two plays already, first time 'cause I went home and second time 'cause I was too late to join the line and tickets were already sold out. The play was very good, well acted and I enjoyed it even though every skit ended sadly for every character involved.

I have a tendency to dress up for plays and concerts (the classical kind, not the moshing kind). It's always kind of hard to match this scarf. It's really beautiful when you open it up, a picture of a chinese opera singer's mask and costume, and the colours are very rich. It was difficult for me not to buy it. When I got it home and discovered that that my options for matching were slim, I was a little sad. But I guess, on occasions like this where I am in the mood to wear black, the scarf adds just the right punch of colour that is in my usual outfits.

playing on my itunes: Such Great Heights by Iron & Wine (cover of The Postal Service)the name's Boots.http://www.blogger.com/profile/09527564190619715306noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5591986018602446155.post-34185333314280708352010-02-06T14:51:00.006-05:002010-02-17T23:44:41.289-05:00ballin' frosh, sloshed by 10

tank, braided belt (worn as headband) and bandeau from American Apparel, shorts from Campus Crew, necklace from the streets of Costa Rica

There's a fine line between looking like an Avatar and looking like a smurf. I'm not sure I was on the right side of that divide last night. I think the leaves all the gaels had on were a nice touch though. Thank goodness for friends in high places at the American Apparel store nearby. They're always coming through for me at costumed events.

I did have a lot of fun catching up with my frosh that did show up to their slosh. And a lot of them brought friends so it was still a good time. I had them destroyed by 10pm.

playing on my itunes: Let's Call It Off by Drake (ft.
